Sarah Tyson Rorer: “The Most Famous Cook in America”

Presented by Jean-Paul Benowitz, professor of American Presidential History at Elizabethtown College

Sarah “Sallie” Tyson Heston Rorer (1849-1937) hailed from Colebrook, Lebanon County. A prolific cookbook author and advocate for healthy eating, Rorer was an advisor on pure food and nutrition to both President Theodore Roosevelt and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. She gained national and global acclaim for her magazine and newspaper articles, radio broadcasts, and live cooking demonstrations.
